Through the Tombs

Whip cracking I would wield wonder,
torches aflame, bouncing shadows between
room and crypt where undisturbed
cadavers sleep contentedly in
thousand year long dreams of
another world where they might be
revered as gods and royalty.

Rocks precarious, cobwebs mysterious,
ruins delirious, the uncovering of
history ancient and passed
a drug of sheer beauty, calling and
poisoning future doorways into
hotel rooms!
How could they compare?

Stumbles, floor crumbles,
pillars rumble as I jump
and sail, through air, trap, molasses,
roadblocks preventing escape
with riches, the sentence to sleep
with greed as bedfellows.
