Absentia

Puff of smoke and into the shadows
he goes! Or rather, he slinks, body
small as he creeps and compresses
to hide his self from all those prying
eyes attached to peers that will
judge like the jury they represent.
The alleyway beckons, his feet glide
and slide and pull, a gravitational
field locking its hold upon his frame
till his movement is naught but
inevitable. His choice removed, his
comfort sated, his abode revealed,
this shall be his domain now.
Planting roots in the drip of shade,
head lowers and eyes close, expression
darkens as permanent night draws
around and swallows.
