Tally Ho Trevor

Published on

Trevor leaps from his bunk bed,
a cape around his neck
amid a dangerous polluted air,
it is the 80s and he is a child
pretending to be spider-man.

Trevor has never read a
comic book,
especially one about Spider-man,
because the green cape is a dead giveaway.

‘Tally ho Trevor!’ he shouts to the world,
his calling card to save lives and end
world suffering.

He pretends he is soaring over a mountain
to rescue a Sherpa.
Trevor is taken with Sherpas.
He learnt about them in school,
while daydreaming about being an icicle,
lodged up Kilimanjaro.

If he could have any powers
it would be the power to be ice and slippery,
a cool dude chilling in zero degrees.
Mostly so he could live on a mountain top
and see the sun without distractions.

Young Trevor’s dreams can never come true,
and sadly he knows it,
but this does not stop him from believing,
and he will be that super heroic icicle
in his mind, where the rules are his
to form and shape and bend and break.
