Seconds, In Dark

By the heavens, the dragon screeches
every night, your mindless wandering
already forgotten, your purpose
ripped from your mind, fog
expels from inside the mouths of
rocks fashioned as shapes of humanity.

Shunned by formless mountains
each cycle wrests with your bones,
echoing the creaks and cracks
kickstarting your visionless quest.

Staggering through relentless swipes,
exceptional poise stays your stance,
enemies surround though motives
kindle flames of regret and loss.

Light remains part of your corner,
enveloping your lost world, as
souls congregate and wither by
the handful, chosen by none.
