Let Me See The Will

The drive is threatening, alas,
the will and wants are misaligned.
Like a lump of clay I sit unmolded
knowing what should in fact be
simple and easy, but averting my
gaze from a mountainous range
that wraps itself around infinity.
I have the tools to scale, oh they
have never left my side and only
gotten stronger throughout the ages.
The fear itself, an unwanted passenger,
sits upon my shoulder and whispers.
Needling and burrowing those laced
words jut into my flesh, protruding
as armour to those who might seek
to regain hold.
No. Oh no, we sink together.
