Gold Clouding

I have been sat here at sturdy desk
while glancing up at the heavenly sky,
grey clouds of water hanging overhead
and I am smiling.

The threatening and looming rain,
that seems poised to fall upon me,
is welcomed with arms open and
joy pouring from my heart.

I have cooked and baked and sweltered
in heat so absurd as to question my
belief of where I live, a temperate
clime from which I grew.

Bring the rain and the grey,
bring back that miserable outlook that
stops my internals from rising to
level so uncomfortable I wish to expire.

You are as muted as newspaper print,
you are cold and dreary and boredom
incarnate, and even though the sun
is blocked, I love you.
