Games of the Years – A Pome A Day A While

SomethingAwful’s, (the whole reason I call myself Veeg in the first place), Video Games sub forum holds a yearly GOTY thread to rival the Doritoes Pope, Geoff Keighley, himself!

The SA GOTY thread is much more honest and raw because it does not limit the entries to the year’s hot new releases. No, this list takes into account whatever games you played regardless of creation. This is a list of how you enjoyed the time you spent with the hobby as a whole.

For example, this year (2025) I have spent a large amount of time gaming in the Clinton years, and he has not been president for decades! The games from that era though? Wowzers.

Created and run by good friend Rarity – with me taking the reigns during occasional off seasons – the annual SA GOTY thread remains my favourite posting part of the year!

I decided to collate each of my entries below.

Each one is exactly as it was (with errors and mistakes and poor writing or descriptions) when posted. Re-reading them, I have definitely changed my gaming opinions. There would be a lot of reordering of the rankings, and you can tell that prior to 2020 I really did not game very much. Things sure have changed!
