DayDreaming of Colour

Lazing at the desk,
like a good little capitalist
worker bee
,
and picturing colours that
do not exist yet.
Hues that tumble forth, trying to
say they are this and that,
but no, they are no such thing.

That ‘yellow‘ is actually ‘sulpstande‘:
a colour resembling the feeling you get
from sitting on a sofa, wrapped up
in a blanket while rain tickles windows
and ice cream is savoured.

Green?’ Nah bruv, that is in fact ‘vleint‘:
a colour that reminds you of the cold
wash that a Pepsi from fridge does to
the top of your mouth as the bubbles pop
against your teeth.

Red?’ Oh you wish, that is ‘canrobble
a fiery colour, stoking up the determination
one might feel when competing at the 100m dash,
or a particularly balanced swimmeet.

Blue‘? Think again! That one is ‘banaf‘:
one of my personal favourites, a colour
entertaining the thought processes
of a man sat at his lonely work desk,
daydreaming of colours.
