Caustic Or Rustic?

Rustic does not mean all rusty,
but it should,
and caustic does not mean for a cause,
though it should not,
because I do like the meaning
but it feels wrong as a word,
and I am all about the weirdness
of the English language.

Rustic should be rusty metal aesthetics,
not homely 1940s frontier country!
That should be cowstic, though
you might have people mixing it
up with caustic, and then
you have a house that slowly dissolves
your bedspread because the bed frame
is now made of solid acid,
which I am not even sure is a thing
but I invented it.

You can invent any words, in English,
it is the language with no rules,
well just the one rule,
that there are no rules,
to show them is to break them
and if you know that, then
you know that causticity
of lettering, punctuation and spelling,
and it dissolves into true vibes!
