Bus Etiquette

The British, they know how to queue
and if you have gone to a tube station
or perhaps a slow cashier day
at a busy superstore,
then you have watched
the patience,
the stoicism,
the determination,
the proper method applied
to the noble art of queuing.
NOT.
It turns out.
NOT!
if you are at the bus stop
and something causes the bus
to perhaps pull in a little later
than the queues obvious front,
NOT
if you are at the bus station
waiting for the doors to open
because the bus is about
to make a grand entrance,
NOT
if you want to get up out
of your hard wood seat
and leave at the next stop,
NO
it seems as though the rules
do not apply in such situations,
and I feel like a Lord of a Fly
as I struggle to do what
is right in the face
of oppressive colleagues
who are all going the same
way I am.
