A Void

When eyes are closed
abyss sings back
and murky umbral tendrils
cover the world.

Serenity in avoidance,
in a void such as self reflection,
time and space have no bearing
on one who has joined with nothing.

When my eyes are closed,
when my reality is shut away,
when my mind is empty,
I am released upwards and all weights
of modern life and adulthood
are stripped.

Addicting and welcoming,
this personal oblivion,
this comforting escape.
