A Bedroom on a Mountain

Published on

Waking at mornings bell ringing,
parting sleep encrusted eyes,
lifting comforting sheets of cotton
and erecting onto shaky feet.

Steps towards thick, flowing, reddish curtains
stained by the outside sun.
Drawn back they reveal the magnificent.

Your bedroom is literally on a mountain.

Your home,
cheap due to the locale (no WiFi),
sits 2000 feet in the sky,
lodged on weathered rock
dotted with shrub and mountain goats.

The view stretches endlessly forward
horizon unmarred as occasional mountain
pokes the viewline.

Below you gangs of trees
clustered in conspiratorial bunches
while snaking rivers slither between
dusty parched roads.
